November Update 2025: Preparing for the storm

We’ve got tropical storm Tino heading straight for us tomorrow morning, so today is mainly about prepping the house. If it hits hard, I’m expecting power to be down here for 1–3 days. Current reports suggest it will turn into a Typhoon before it makes landfall.

I’ve got the Nikon Z8 and Z6III ready (I compared the Z6III vs Z8 here) — if I get a chance to safely shoot anything, I’ll take a few frames. If you don’t hear from me for a few days after this post, that’s why. I’ll get back to publishing as soon as the power is back on — hopefully later this week.

I’ve also just returned from Dumaguete where we went to view a school for Sofia — and she absolutely loved it. This was the final piece of the puzzle for me. So yes — the move is now officially on. We’ll be relocating from Cebu island to Dumaguete in January 2026.

Dumaguete is a lovely place. It will allow me to shoot far more, with far more variety, right on my doorstep. That means better articles, more personal projects, and simply more interesting things for my daughters as they grow up.

Gear notes

I’ll continue shooting mainly on the Nikon Z6III, and then the Z8 through November and into Christmas — so expect more Nikon Z content in the coming weeks. The usual Fujifilm and OM System articles will continue as well.

I also have a Ricoh GR IV here in the studio waiting for serious use — I’ll be publishing GR IV articles before Christmas.

And I’ve got another camera on order (with a bit of a backstory behind it). I’ll keep that one quiet for now — but I’ll share the story in the New Year.

That’s about all for now. Time to finish preparing the house.

Hopefully I’ll be back to my normal publishing schedule later this week.

For now I’ll leave you with a few recent articles that will hopefully be of interest until I get chance to publish more later in the week.
