For the last few weeks I’ve been shooting and publishing a lot of content on the OM System OM-3 and, as much fun as that has been, I’ve missed shooting with my Fuji gear.
Right now I’m working on a review of the Fujifilm XF 18mm f/1.4 WR lens and will be shooting with it all week. I’m hoping to have that article published within the next week.
I also have a trip planned for late September/early October where I’ll be shooting with both my Fuji X-T5 and Nikon Z6III. Hopefully Sofia will be coming along with her Ricoh GRIIIx again — it’s always great seeing her so enthusiastic and getting involved. That trip should give me plenty of insight into how the two systems compare in real-world use, and I’m excited to share my thoughts once I have something valuable to report. The last trip was fantastic when I shot the Fuji X100VI and Ricoh GRIII together.
We’re in the middle of a very wet rainy season here in the Philippines at the moment — it feels like there’s a heavy downpour almost every day.
Despite the weather, my mum has now fully settled in here, which has been wonderful to see. It’s been a big change for all of us, but having her close by has made day-to-day life so much nicer. She has, however, pulled my leg a few times about it raining more here than back in the UK — and I’m not sure she entirely believes me when I say there really is a dry season coming.
I’m trying to fit all this in while also planning a potential house sale and move to Dumaguete. The idea is to give the girls more activities, better schools, and opportunities — and it would also put some great shooting locations right on my doorstep. We’ll have to see how that pans out, but it’s definitely on the cards.
Despite my busy schedule right now, writing on this website has become almost cathartic to me as an outlet and a place to share and connect with other photographers.
Since July I’ve been working full-time on this website, and I’ve been amazed at how much it’s grown in such a short time. I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who’s read and supported this little corner of the internet — it really does mean a lot.
In the coming months, I’ll be sharing more travel and photography stories alongside my usual gear coverage.
That’s it for now — Isobelle has just woken up, so it’s back to reality and parent duties.
