I think that sounds like a good plan. If you shoot more architecture and landscapes than people and street photography then the 10-24mm is probably the way to go.

Thanks for you helpful explanation. You're right, for what I do the kit-zoom probably is good enough and I don't need the extra weight for a tiny plus in resolution. Although 23 mm 1,4 sounds promising, I might go for the 10-24 mm for landscapes and architecture before taking the 23 mm and the lovely 56 mm into consideration.

Hi James,

Both are great cameras but I am with you on EVF's. Saves so much time chimping after the shot.

In reply to <a href="https://thecotswoldphotographer.com/fuji-xt2-vs-nikon-d750/#comment-68">JAN</a>.

The 18-55mm is very good by kit lens standards. It also offers inage stabilisation which can be very useful for getting sharp images of stationary subjects in low light. For the money I think it is a worthy addition and useful lens.

Your teacher is correct in saying that perhaps the 18-55mm zoom doesnt fully exploit the sensor in the XT2. Prime lenses will usually give slightly better image quality and the 1.4 and faster primes from Fuji are excellent.
My personal favourites are the 23mm 1.4 and 56mm 1.2. These two lenses cover most of what I shoot.

However I wouldn't get too caught up in image quality as its very good whether you use zooms or primes on Fuji.
Just think about what you photograph and which lens or lenses will allow you to do so.
Often when starting out it is useful to use a zoom lens and then after a few months see which focal lengths you use the most by looking at the data in Lightroom. Then you can make a decision as to which prime would be most useful for you.
I actually feel that the 16-55mm f/2.8 is a little too large to be comfortable on the XT2 so I wouldnt consider it personally. It may have slightly better image quality than the 18-55 but the weight is not worth it for me personally.

Thanks for commenting.

Dear David, thanks for your impressive comparison. My photo teacher told me the fuji 18-55 mm could not fully exploit the fuji x-t2 capabilities. Would the results change significantly with the 16-55 mm 2.8 WR? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the comparison. Just a note, with the xt2 it's always better to expose for the highlights, it's better at recovering shadows. Also Capture one is doing much better work on fuji raw than LR (or add iridient developer to LR).

I love the d750, it's a great camera, but replaced it with the xt2 (with a grip to improve the grip :)) great colors, light and yes the ovf of the d750 is great and I miss using it from time to time, but after Evf you just can't go back, it's such a time saver.

Great comparison on these two cameras. Question, I have a daughter who does lots of theatre productions and I am looking for a camera that will shoot in low light conditions with nice high ISO capabilities. I do worry about a loud shutter that a dslr would make so I tend to lean toward a mirror less, plus the light weight would be nice. Do you think the Xt2 would work well in this type of situation? Kids would be moving quite a bit on stage and I will say they are lit pretty well with various stage lights. Thanks so much!

Hi Laura,

The XT2 would work well with its good low light autofocus, high ISO capabilities and silent and quiet shutter.

Or look at the Sony A7SII for even better low light performance but larger more expensive lenses and IMO worse ergonomics.
