Hi Steve,

No I don't. Especially not with a high resolution body like the Z8. My left hand is under the lens supporting it when I shoot. That photo is purely for the website.

All the best

Hi Muhammad,

Thanks for reading an dcommenting. As you love 'capturing moments' and sound like you don't yet want to delve in to photo editing then I would definitely point you towards a Fuji camera as they have great color profiles (called film simulations) that look really good straight out of camera. Whether you go in the direction of the X100VI or something like the X-T5 depends on whether you think you will want the flexibility of being able to change lenses for different subjects or if the simplicity of just one focal length on the X100VI appeals more. But both of those cameras offer excellent image quality, great colors without editing and a really enjoyable shooting experience.

All the best

Hey David, thanks for your post!

By the way, my name is Syamsul and I’m from Malaysia. I just came across your article and found it really helpful. I’ve recently started getting into photography, mainly during my hiking trips. I love capturing moments, but honestly I don’t have any editing skills yet

So I’m actually looking for a camera that can take beautiful photos straight out of the camera, without needing much editing.

Based on your experience, do you think the Fujifilm X100VI would be a good choice for someone like me? Or would you suggest something else?

Appreciate your advice!

Hi John,

Thanks for your opinion. I find the GR series truly pocketable having owned them in the Philippines and now ehre in Scotland. They fit in shorts pockets, jacket pockets but I suppose whether the difference is worth it or tangible is an individual thing. The main thing is that you're happy with the kit that you have. I find the OM-3 excellent but the cost is a factor. I think the whole camera market has had to move to higher tiered pricing though, due to smartphones carving out the lower end of the market.

I really enjoy my X-T5, it's so versatile and fun to use. I'll be interested to see what they do with the X-T6 when it is released.

All the best

I use the Olympus EM-10 Mark 4 with pancake primes or small primes as my Ricoh replacement (half the cost of the Ricoh even with an added lens). Sure the EM-10 is a little bigger but I didn't experience the Ricoh as genuinely comfortable in pocket or practically pocketable in a warm to hot country anyway.
The Ricoh was in a little waist bag or small over shoulder satchel more often than not, which is exactly how I carry the EM-10. As far as image quality outdoors in reasonable light, the photos from the EM-10 were not that far behind the Ricoh in most cases.

Re: the OMDS OM-3, for me it's a fail from OMDS. Far too costly for the role it plays, and the small (but noticable) improvement in image quality (not speed) over non-stacked sensors from Olympus/OMDS is not enough to justify a purchase of it.

I will keep my little kit until it dies - but there will be no more OMDS purchases, they've had enough time to do better for lovers of small camera bodies and lenses. I'm on my way to the next release of the Fujifilm X-T5/6 - I'm sure it will be a beauty.

Hi Joel,

I'm sorry to hear that. While the weather sealing on OM System cameras is generally very good, I suppose there is a limit to what they can take as with all models. Did you find out whether it was a fault of the specific camera you had?

All the best

Hi Simon,

Thanks for reading and your comment. I'm of the opinion that Canon cameras are very good. I started on Canon and owned the R5 for over a year and really enjoyed it. It really is the lens lineup that just doesn't offer as many middle ground options as other systems which causes concern. I'd love to see Canon start to offer more high quality mid level lenses. I haven't shot with the R7 specifically so am not really qualified to comment on that specific model. I may well start to test more Canon models later in the year if the lens options open up more.

All the best

Hi Bec,

Thanks for reading and for your comment.
The X100VI is definitely better than the EM-5 mark II. I was out with my X100VI with my eldest daughter yesterday and it did really well keeping up with her at the playground. The key with the X100VI is having the right settings to enable it to perform at its best. You're right, there are other cameras that are faster to focus and track better but I still get a good hit rate with the X100VI.
